The center of Prince George is situated in an extension of land at the confluence of the Fraser and Nechako rivers. The old commercial district gives the impression of being somewhat neglected, but a short stroll through downtown (concentration along the Third Avenue and George Street) reveals a charm reminiscent of the cities or the Yukon Territory Northwest. And the prevalence of tattoos houses, pawnbrokers, and cafeterias old increases the impression of one of these typical border communities of yesteryear.

The gallery Two Rivers occupies an elegant space in the Civic Centre Plaza, between Patricia Boulevard and Dominion Street. Its innovative architecture, is an example of artists' work and artenasos local and regional. There is also a sculpture garden, gift shop and a cafe. The hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10 am to 5pm, Sundays from noon to 5 pm. Between May and September, also is open on Mondays from 10am to 5pm. After seeing the gallery, one can traverse Patricia Boulevard to wander through trails of Connaught Hill Park. The top of the hill is a good place to observe the Fraser River and the city centre.

At the Prince George Native Art Gallery, one can see the art work in birch bark, cedar carving, wood accounts, and limited edition prints of artists regional natives. It is open from Tuesday to Friday from 9am to 5pm and on Saturdays from 10am to 4pm, with extension of daylight saving as much as possible.

There are more than 120 parks within the city limits, many of them linked to the system of rivers. The park of Fort George is the most extensive with 36 hectares, the site of the original fur trade. Under its foundations existed one of the cemeteries of First Nations, a miniature railway, a school, and the Centre for exploration, a small center of science and natural museum. Adults may enjoy the history gallery, which details the customs of the region, and tells the story of the fur trade and the felling of trees. There are many interactive exhibits of science, an Internet cafe and a theater SimEx, in which the seats of spectators move in synchrony with the presentation of films. It is open daily from 10 am to 5 p.m. from mid-May until mid-October, the same hours from Wednesday to Sunday the rest of the year. The park is located in the Fraser River at the end of 20th Avenue.

The River Basin Trails can transpodrtarlo by a space of about 11 km covering the circuit of historic sites in the city. The route begins at Fort George Park, following along the Fraser River, to pass through Cottonwood Island Park and along the Nechako River bridge until Cameron Cameron Street, driving through the city and back to Fort George Park.

Family Fun - The Ol 'Sawmill Bluegrass Jamboree, held to 26 kilometres north of the Nechako road in mid-August, is a musical event for the whole family, with a weekend camping, workshops, music, arts and crafts, areas game for children, and many talented artists of bluegrass.
