RIU Hotels 6amp; Resorts has announced it will be building its first hotel in Mazatlán, a major tourist centre on Mexico’s Pacific shores. The 5-star, 716-room Riu Emerald Bay, which will be built by the firm itself, is slated to open in May 2009. This all-inclusive hotel will offer an assorted variety of culinary choices at its main restaurant, which features a buffet and live cooking, and its Mexican, Italian and steakhouse restaurants.
A wide array of water sports and activities such as diving, kayaking, sailing and windsurfing will also be available at the new resort, which boasts tennis courts and beach volleyball as well. A number of bars and different entertainment programmes, in addition to a fully-equipped gymnasium and spa, complete the offer.
The Riu Emerald Bay’s state-of-the-art facilities will also cater to the business meeting sector. The hotel will have four modern conference halls: the largest will measure 240 square metres and seat up to 108 people, while the second and third will each measure 120 square metres and seat 48. All the rooms will have sliding panels and can be opened up into one large, 480-square metre room.
