Holiday Inn Zocalo is surrounded by history in every single corner, since it is located in a gorgeous Colonial building where the palace of Emperor Moctezuma was first located. Later on it was the residence of Conqueror Hernan Cortez. In this very place was built the first Colonial Government House. Then it became a viceroyalty residence and a weapon house. This structure has been conserved from the colonial time, that's why this building is considered historical monument by the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH).
